These dice are well-made and are much heavier than we expected them to be. They're solid metal so they're better suited to rolling on a mat versus a bare table. The design is very cool and unique, and they certainly are a discussion starter when you break them out for the first time. The rolling action is good, however some of the dices like the D20, the numbers, 9 etc. are difficult to read because of the size of the number and the font. Overall a cool set of dice that adds some flair to your game.
These dice are AWESOME. Roll well and be careful, you will concuss someone if you hit them with these solid metal dice lollipop
I love love this unique, classy set of dice.
In general, they are wonderfully heavy. The characters are very clear (with the exception of my minor complaint below) and the font is "runic" without being cryptic. I got the bronze and green, and the bronze is properly distressed and ancient with the green being perfectly non-committal... Could be the color of a toxic dragon, a verdant druid, or a bubbling alchemy lab!
In particular:
- The wedge shaped d4 is a colossal improvement over the standard unmanagable pyramid.
- The d6 follows suit and I love it. There's nothing wrong with the old box shape, but this is super cool.
- The d10 and d% land very clearly on a particular side without question.
- I've had bullet dice that looked cool, but the d12s and d20s were functionally round and never stop rolling. These have overcome that problem. They land clearly on a particular number.
- The d20 is much larger than the others, giving it that cool barrel shape. The numbers are small, but readable.
Only complaint: The 9 and 6 could be better differentiated... There's a small dot on the d10, but it should be bigger and it's lacking on the d12 and d20. A moment's thought reveals that the surrounding characters are all standing in the same orientation (unlike on a dodecahedron d20), so you know... So this is only a minor complaint.
My other complaint is that even with these fancy dice, you're going to need something else to play the game... 2d6 for a longsword, 3d6 for a fireball, 2 d20s for advantage/disadvantage. These cool dice are going to make anything you put with them look bad... But that's a fault of any fancy and unique dice. Think about it before you buy... Or buy two sets!
Overall, I think this is a great set. The aged finish and weight and size (of the d20 especially) and the unique shapes make it feel like you're rolling ancient artifacts, and that's pretty cool.
